Though many will tune into the 78th annual Tony Awards on CBS or stream Broadway’s biggest night on Paramount+ this June 8, very few people will access the exclusive Baccarat and Dewar’s Speakeasy devised for the event at Radio City Music Hall. Reserved solely for nominees, presenters, and distinguished guests, the opulent bar experience honors the Art Deco grandeur of the host venue while acknowledging the movement’s relevance (and resurgence) today.

Accessible behind a red velvet rope, and perched above and open to the historic theater’s expansive lobby, the speakeasy marries the French maison’s luscious rouge colorway with exclamation points of gold. From the entryway through the backbar, Baccarat pieces punctuate the Art Deco design language and drinks will be served with rare expressions from Dewar’s Double Double range.

“The signature bold, geometric shapes and elegance of the Art Deco movement have long been intrinsic to our design codes, and the era continues to be a beacon of our creative work even today,” Baccarat creative designer Angela Sun tells Surface. “In creating this space, we needed to harmoniously blend Baccarat’s past and future with the traditions of a private hideaway: faceted angles, neon and warm lighting, crystal tile along the bars and walls, and a rich, red and gold palette in tribute to the fiery passion of our artisans for 260 years.”

Baccarat leaned into the existing beauty of Radio City’s Grand Hall. “We married form with function to bring the space to life and create a coherent story in the style of the ‘20s, 100 years later,” Sun adds. Some of the Baccarat pieces enhance the environment’s theatrical touch—from the oversized sculptural vases to the crystal chandeliers. Other additions will allow attendees to get hands-on with the maison; in fact, each signature Dewar’s cocktail is served in a dedicated Baccarat vessel.
